Indian Motorcycle has unveiled a special edition Chief Vintage cruiser at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, paying homage to the origins of the world's largest motorcycle rally. This limited-edition model, priced at £23,500, is a 1940s-inspired cruiser, available as the Chief Vintage Sturgis, SD Edition. The bike is a tribute to the Indian Motorcycle dealer Pappy Hoel, who started the Sturgis Rally in 1938, and the spirit of all riders. The standard model, launched in January 2026, is priced at £18,955 and features a solid black or red option. The special edition, however, boasts a two-tone livery of red and cream on the 15.1-litre tank and sweeping fenders, with a special headdress logo on the fuel tank, reminiscent of the Indian models of the time. Each bike is numbered below the brown single rider's seat, with the 56 on the side plate paying tribute to the hand-painted numbers used by the first racers in the early days of Sturgis. The Chief Vintage is powered by an air-cooled 1890cc V-twin engine, producing 115lb.ft of torque at 3300rpm, and comes with a four-inch touchscreen TFT and three riding modes. The bike also features LED illuminated headdress design on the front mudguard and spoked wire wheels with Metzeler Cruisetec tyres. The MCN review highlights the bike's authenticity and modern touches, but notes that the UK will only receive one model, which could have been more distinct from the standard machine. This limited-edition model is a celebration of the Sturgis Rally's history and the Indian Motorcycle brand's 125th anniversary, offering a unique riding experience for enthusiasts.
